Family confirmed with 23ABC a local Marine was killed in San Diego. Family said George Galvan was born and raised in Bakersfield and attended Mira Monte High School. He died June 30 in a crash in San Diego. He was 23 years old.
According to family, his body will be transported back to Bakersfield Wednesday morning. A motorcycle escort will meet him at the base of the Grapevine to take him to Hillcrest Cemetery.
Galvan's family says he was just days away from being married and expecting his first born in November.
There will be a Celebration of Life Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel at 9101 Kern Canyon Road followed by a graveside service with military honors.
