BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Local organizations are partnering up to celebrate the New Year with a "Feed the Homeless and Needy" event Wednesday.

The event will bring food and gifts to those in need, including sweatshirts, hygiene kits, gloves and other assorted items. It's happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the e Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center campus on 6501 Truxtun Ave.

It's funded by the Naina and Ravi Patel Foundation and coordinated with the support of the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center, Bakersfield Rescue Mission, the Bakersfield Homeless Center, Kern County Housing Authority, B.A.R.C. and Lift/Project 152.
