Wednesday night 23ABC reported on the approval of Kern County to move quicker into the later phases of stage 2, which includes the re-opening of dine-in restaurants and shopping malls. And just one hour after the announcement 23ABC visited a local restaurant to get their reaction. Wiki's Wine Dive and Grill's owner, Mike Earhart started seating customers within minutes of this approval.
But not all restaurants were able to open immediately, because if restaurants want to offer dine-in service they need to make modifications mandated by the state, including spacing tables, displaying Covid-19 guidelines for customers, implementing strict hygiene rules for staff, and avoiding presetting tables.
And along with dine-in restaurants, shopping malls, retail stores, museums and libraries will also be allowed to open. And those establishments will also have to follow state modifications if they want to open. The state giving key prevention practices like:Physical distancing to the maximum extent possible, the use of face coverings by employees and customers, frequent hand washing and regular cleaning and disinfection, plus employees must have training on a COVID-19 prevention plan provided by their employer.
