BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern Community Foundation wants you to give big during their fund-raising campaign, "Give Big Kern".

The campaign began a few years ago as a day to celebrate the giving spirit of Kern County but it's now grown to a months-long celebration of community philanthropy. Money raised from the campaign will go towards awarding prizes for area nonprofits that excel in their fund-raising, volunteer recruitment and board engagement efforts.

"Give Big Kern" day takes place on May 7 but these local retailers below are already doing an early promotion launch to help non-profits.

• Cornerstone Bakery (19th Street) is offering specialty cupcakes for only $1 between now and May 6.
• Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza stores (Select locations) will donate 10% from every online pizza order that is placed using the online code "give".
• Camelot Park (Oak Street) will donate $4 from every online wristband purchase which includes unlimited play for a day.
