Local veterans are being invited to form a softball team.

The team would play against other amateur teams through the City of Bakersfield Parks and Recreation.

There's no fee to sign up and registration ends on Aug. 10.

Practices and games begin the week of Sept. 18 at Mesa Marin Sports Complex.
