Some brave souls turned out for the Polar Bear Plunge this morning. Joining in a nationwide event by jumping into a cold swimming pool.
The event held at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center and was open to everyone ages seven and up. The Bakersfield Recreation and Parks Department organized the event.
"It's a really fun event and it's fun knowing that people around the nation and the world are doing the same thing today," said Janette Beck who is a recreations specialist.
Participants were invited to jump or slide into the pool which was 47 degrees today.
"You should at least do it once, it's fun and it's worth it," said Cameron Chenze.
