About a dozen people met up in Southwest Bakersfield at Centennial Park on Sunday evening to hold a prayer group for the 14 victims who were shot.
They prayed for an end to violence and guidance for kids to stay away from gangs.
Tamara Roberts, who coordinated the prayer session said, "It's horrible, I mean our children have basically taken to the streets and they're being lost, they're being killed."
Meanwhile, Kierra Thomas-Roberts said, "I'm actually kind of really scared to go to parties, because I feel like I'm gonna get shot for no reason, cause' I'm innocent."
Parents who attended the prayer session also said parents need to be more involved in their kid's lives.
This vigil comes a day after 14 people were shot at a party on Stephens Drive in Central Bakersfield. Two were in critical condition.
