Community members are working hard to "Bridge the Gap" between officers and kids in our community.
The community service project was created to help the relationship between cops and kids.
It all started with an idea Shea Martin and her husband had to teach their kids about the importance of giving.
Shea and her childhood friend came together to create patrol car treasure boxes filled to the brim with snacks, toys and a lot of love.
Martin's husband received his first box last week, he's an officer with the Bakersfield Police Department.
Shea plans to continue to grow "Bridge the Gap" and give out boxes to the Bakersfield Police Department and The Kern County Sheriff Department monthly.
