Long lines for Passport applications in Kern County

Posted
and last updated

Many have been trying for weeks to get new passports but were greeted with long wait times and a very frustrating experience.

The U.S. postal office says longer wait times are expected this time of year.

From January through May passport agencies see a peak in traffic, due to most people gearing up to take trips in the summer months.

But Francisca Lopez doesn't see it that way; in fact she says President Donald Trump and his immigration order are to blame.

"The lines are so long because the president is going to deport the people,” said Lopez.

The U.S. postal office says President Trump's new travel ban has nothing to do with longer wait times.

In any case, whatever you believe are the factors that may be causing longer lines make sure you plan to spend quite a few hours here.
