BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Department of Transportation announced a full closure of the Buttonwillow Safety Roadside Rest Areas for both Northbound and Southbound I-5 starting on Monday for a wastewater upgrade project.
The Buttonwillow Safety Roadside Rest Areas on Interstate 5 in Kern County will be closed in both directions starting Monday, January 14, at 9:00 a.m. This estimated length of the closure is currently unknown but is expected to last at least 2-3 months.
For the traveling public, alternate facilities and services are available at the following locations:
- Stockdale Highway (Exit 253): Truck fueling station, gas stations, restaurants, lodging and convenience stores.
- State Route 58 (Exit 257): Full truck stop service facility, gas stations, restaurants, lodging and convenience stores.
- State Route 46 (Exit 278): Full truck stop service facility, gas stations, restaurants, lodging and convenience stores.
