BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Looking for things to do on Memorial Day? Take a look below at our list of events!

The Sixth Annual Thousand Flags:

This event, presented by Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary honors the many heroes who have served and continue to serve the nation and community.

Flags can be sponsored for $50 per flag at any time during the event. At the end of the weekend, flag sponsors wishing to receive a folded flag and a keepsake certificate may pick up their items.

Flags started flying at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 25 and will be on display through Monday, May 27. The public is invited to visit the display anytime during the weekend.

2019 Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony:

This parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27 in Tehachapi traveling down F Street on the way to Philip Marx Central Park. The ceremonies will begin when the parade reaches the park. The posting of colors will begin the service followed by the singing of the national anthem. There will be free refreshments following the ceremony served by the American Legion and the Auxiliary.

The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District advise the public to bring a chair just in case seating is unavailable.

Kern County's Oldest Traditional Memorial Day Ceremony:

This event will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday May 27 at the Historic Union cemetery on King and Potomac Streets! There will also be a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. with special guest speakers.

Greenlawn Memorial Day Services:

Memorial Day services will be held at both their Northeast and Southwest locations.

At the Northeast location, the service begins at 11 a.m. on Monday May 27, the keynote speaker will be Senator Shannon Grove and the National Anthem will be performed by Bella Stine.

At the Southwest location, the service will take place at 2 p.m., the keynote speaker will be Congressman Kevin McCarthy, Honor Flight Kern County Veteran, Charlie Wilmot and the National Anthem will be performed by Bella Stine.
