BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office shared a special video on Thursday afternoon of Lieutenant Smallwood being met with a crowd of his co-workers saluting him for his last day.
Smallwood was hired by the department in October of 1985 and after 33 years of service, he has finally signed off for the last time.
Tuesday was Smallwood's official last day with the Sheriff's Office, but he will be teaching their police academy until June.
After 33 years, Lieutenant Bill Smallwood signed off his radio for the final time. Earlier that shift as he arrived at work, he was met by a crowd of co-workers who wanted to salute him one more time. #thisiswhatservicelookslike pic.twitter.com/JmhIK55jUc
