BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One patient involved in a major injury collision on Highway 178 Sunday afternoon has been flown to Kern Medical, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP traffic incident website shows the collision occurred at 1:18 p.m. on the 178 in Onyx, which is about 60 miles East of Bakersfield.

The CHP website reports only one vehicle was involved in the collision, requiring one patient to be flown to Kern Medical Center with major injuries.

It is unclear how the collision occurred or how many people may have been injured.

The patient's condition has not been confirmed.
