Man accused of breaking into a Wofford Heights home in a failed burglary attempt is sentenced

A man accused of breaking into a home in Wofford Heights in a failed burglary attempt was sentenced before a judge today.

Lawrence Austin Frenes was sentenced to two years five months in prison after pleading no contest to 1st degree burglary, resisting an officer, and vandalism over $400.

In February 2016, Kern County Sheriff Officials said a man attempted to burglarize a home in the 200 block of Hiem Lane when the homeowner pulled a gun on the suspect.

The homeowner, Craig Manning, fired two warning shots in the air at which point the suspect ran away from the property. 

The suspect was eventually caught in the 1700 block of Sierra Vista.
