BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The man arrested for a 2017 shooting in east Bakersfield has been acquitted on murder and attempted murder charges, according to court records.
Guillermo Soto was facing felony charges, including cruelty to a child in addition to first-degree murder but was acquitted Wednesday on four of those charges. However, Soto was convicted on possession of a firearm as a felon.
Police said Soto opened fire near Heritage Park on Mt. Vernon and Bernard Streets on December 9 of 2017, killing a man and wounding a woman. Soto pleaded not guilty.
