The Kern County Sheriff's department responded to a shooting near Richgrove after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

According to KCSO, the shooting happened in an almond orchard near Pandol Way and Cecil Avenue, which is in Kern County. 

KCSO says the victim then drove himself to the Fast Way Market in Richgrove in Tulare County.

The victim is a 36-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to Kern Medical and is currently in surgery.

There is no suspect information at this time.  

Homicide detectives were on scene. It is still unclear how many shots were fired and is still under investigation.
