Man arrested after attempting to drive off Panorama Bluffs, kill passenger

Robert Luna, 39, was arrested after Bakersfield Police say he threatened to kill his passenger by attempting to drive his vehicle off of the Panorama Bluffs Saturday night.

Police say Luna collided with another vehicle before he could make it to the bluffs.  According to BPD, after the collision, Luna got out of his vehicle and ran.

The passenger in Luna’s car and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident suffered minor to moderate injuries.

According to police, Luna found another vehicle and led officers on a short chase but was later caught near the 2900 block of Saint Mary’s Street.

BPD says Luna was arrested for attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, DUI causing injury, evading, resisting arrest and parole violation.
