Felon arrested for firearm, ammunition possession on Highway 99

On May 21st, 2017 around 11:45 pm, a Kern County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 99 at the Rosedale Highway off ramp.

A search of the vehicle resulted in two rifles, a loaded .44 caliber revolver, and multi-caliber live ammunition being seized from the vehicle.

As a result of the traffic stop 27-year-old Timothy Smith of Bakersfield was arrested for an outstanding Post Release Community Supervision warrant, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Smith was booked into the Central Receiving Facility and is being held without bail.
