LAMONT, Calif. — A man was arrested on Wednesday for violating his parole by illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
Officers with the Kern County Probation Department's Post Release Community Supervision Unit said when they were on a house call in the area of Paradise Road in Lamont they found Francisco Estrada, who is on active Post Release Community Supervision for fleeing from officers in a car. Officials said when Estrada tried to get away from them he threw away a firearm. He was later contacted and arrested.
During a search of Estrada, officers found about 1 gram of cocaine and 3.3 grams of methamphetamine. When officers responded to the location of the discarded firearm they also found a loaded Ruger 44 magnum revolver.
Estrada was arrested for a violation of his parole and charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition by a felon and drug related charges.
