Bakersfield Fire Department arson investigators arrested 31-year-old Jesus Trejo in connection with a fire that occurred at 721 Brundage.
At about midnight Sunday, firefighters with the Bakersfield Fire Department were sent to a commercial structure and found heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear attic of the building.
BFD crews worked to extinguish the fire and truck companies were assigned to ventilation and forcible entry.
The structure was softened by removing the boards from the doors and windows.
During the course of the fire fight, incident commanders noted a pending structural collapse to a portion of the structure. Crews were removed from the interior of the structure and a defensive posture was maintained until knock down of the fire was obtained. Primary and secondary searches of the structure found no persons inside of the structure.
BFD Arson Investigators were dispatched to the scene in order to determine origin and cause of the fire.
Trejo was arrested at about 11 a.m. and taken to the Kern County Jail and charged with 3 counts of arson.
