Kern County Sheriff's Office releases identity of man killed in Wasco shooting Tuesday night

WASCO, Calif. — UPDATE: Authorities have released the identity of the man who was shot and killed in Wasco overnight. Miguel Lopez, 37, of Wasco was found on Camellia Street and Palm Avenue around 9:20 Tuesday night.

Fire crews initially discovered the man had been shot. Lopez died at the scene.

Detectives are currently investigating it as a homicide. At this time the Kern County Sheriff's Office has no suspect information.

A man is dead after a shooting in Wasco late Tuesday night, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:20 p.m., deputies responded to a call from the Emergency Communication Center, which advised that county fire personnel were on scene of a medical aid in the area of Camellia Street near Palm Avenue.

Fire crews discovered the patient was actually a victim of a shooting. The man died at the scene.

Homicide detectives later responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
