A Kern County jury found a man guilty of rape and forced oral copulation, both with the allegations of intent to commit rape and personal use of a deadly weapon.

Duree Beard was also found guilty of persuading his victim to not contact police and false imprisonment.

He has been sentenced to 65 years to life behind bars. 

On Jan. 16, 2013 then 30-year-old Beard entered the home of a 60-year-old female and used a screwdriver as a weapon to force her into the back bedroom. Beard then forced her to orally copulate him and raped her twice. He also threatened to kill her and held her against her will if she called the police. 

The victim was unable to identify him but a DNA sample taken identified him.

Beard will be sentenced on Dec. 5.
