BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead in a water canal in Southeast Bakersfield.

According to KCSO, around 5:30 a.m. on June 21, KCSO was called for a report of a deceased person in the 4200 block of South Fairfax Road. When deputies arrived, they found a man dead in a water canal.

KCSO says homicide detectives were called to the scene and are investigating the death as suspicious.
