The man arrested near Taft Highway after disappearing with a two-month-old boy earlier this month was expected in front of a Los Angeles judge Monday afternoon.
Jeffrey Gomes had a preliminary hearing on Nov. 20 for charges related to allegedly kidnapping his son, Jefferson Gomes, on Nov. 4.
Investigators said the family was heading north on Interstate 5 near Highway 138 when they stopped because of an argument between the parents. Gomes, 42, then grabbed his son and took off in a truck.
Gomes was arrested on South Enos Lane near Taft Highway. His son, Jefferson, was unharmed.
Gomes entered a not guilty plea on Nov. 7. He is being held at the Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles with a bail set at $150,000.
