A man was taken into custody after being found with an unreported handgun in South Bakersfield on Saturday evening.

The Bakersfield Police Department said officers conducted a traffic stop shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the 300 Block of Jastro Avenue.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Antonio McThrow, took off on a short pursuit but was later caught.

According to BPD, during a vehicle search, officers found an unreported stolen M&P 9mm handgun with two loaded magazines.

McThrow was arrested and booked for a parole violation, participation in a street gang, battery on a police officer and several weapons violations.
