A man guilty of shooting at Bakersfield police officers and barricading himself in a garage causing a whole neighborhood to be placed under lock down back in 2014 was sentenced today to 255 years in prison.
Miguel Villanueva was found guilty on 5 counts of attempted murder, 9 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm on a peace officer, and 7 other felony counts.

According to police reports, Villanueva led the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle after officers tried to stop him for talking on a cell phone. He then barricaded himself in a garage with a loaded gun.
The District Attorney's office said during a 4-hour standoff, Villanueva fired several shots at officers.
Villanueva will serve at Wasco State Prison.
