Man in critical condition after being hit by train in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a train in East Bakersfield.

It happened around 8 p.m. on Oswell St. near Edison Highway.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrived and said deputies found a man on the tracks apparently hit by a train.

The man suffered major injuries to his legs and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

At last check, he was listed in critical condition.

It's unknown if the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he was struck. The incident is under investigation.
