A man is in the hospital with major injuries after he was struck by a car in southwest Bakersfield.
It happened Friday night just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ming Avenue and Valhalla Drive.
The Bakersfield Police Department says the man was walking northbound across Ming Avenue outside of a crosswalk against a red traffic signal. BPD says as the man got to the number three lane, he was struck by a car going eastbound on a green light.
Police say drugs, alcohol or speed do not appear to be a contributing factor with the driver of the car, and it's unknown if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor with the pedestrian.
Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
