According to the Kern County coroner's office, 35-year-old Robert Perez has been identified as the victim who was shot in the head in Wasco.
Officials said on September 30, Perez was taken to Kern Medical from the scene where he died the next day.
The coroner performed a postmortem examination and determined the cause of death is gunshot wound of the head and the manner of death is homicide.

A man is in critical condition after he was shot Monday afternoon in Wasco, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said around 12:15 p.m. deputies with the Wasco substation were dispatched to an alley in the area of 1100 Birch Avenue for a report of a victim of a gunshot wound. When deputies arrived on scene they found a man who was then taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene. KCSO said they are searching for a suspect but have no further details at this time.
