Man in custody following standoff in Southeast Bakersfield

Posted
A man is in custody following a standoff in Southeast Bakersfield earlier today.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, the man was allegedly making domestic type threats at a home on Cannon Avenue, near Cottonwood Drive.

Deputies said he refused to leave and came at a deputy with a screwdriver, leading to a standoff involving KCSO, Bakersfield police, CHP and the Bakersfield Fire Department.

BFD then used a fire hose to get him to come out of the car that he refused to get out of.

The man was taken into custody. His condition is unknown and his identity has not been released at this time.

Part of Cannon Avenue was blocked off.
