A man was injured in the oil field near Cymric.

The accident happened Wednesday morning when a man was using a hydroblaster, a high-powered water cleaning machine, and it got loose and hit him in the ribs.

Tyler Townsend with the Kern County Fire Department said that they received the call at about 10:30 a.m. from the intersection of Reward Rd. and Franco Western Rd. in McKittrick.

The air unit landed, and Townsend said that if he meets the criteria needed, he'll be transported by air. Otherwise, there's a ground ambulance there too.

A man who did not want to be named said that he believes the man suffered a collapsed lung.
