Arvin Police say an elderly man was killed in a vehicle vs pedestrian crash on North Derby Street on Wednesday night. 

According to the Arvin Police, at around 7:37p.m., they were dispatched to the 300 block of North Derby Street, regarding a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they located a 78-year-old Hispanic old male who had sustained major injuries and was not responsive.

The man was later pronounced dead on scene.

Police determined the man was walking in the northbound lane of North Derby and had be struck by a vehicle also traveling northbound.

The driver contacted the police department to report the accident. 

No arrest has been made at this time.

No Alcohol or drugs suspected.

The case is under investigation.
