Emergency crews rescued a man from his car in a canal near Wasco on Wednesday, according to the Kern County Fire Department.

Fire crews were called to the area of Highway 46 and Beech Avenue at around 10:30 p.m., where they found a car into the canal with a man sitting on the car's roof, KCFD officials said on Facebook.

The emergency crews used a 30-foot ladder to create a bridge for the man, who was able to eventually crawl to safety.

It's unclear exactly how the man and the car ended up in the canal.
