A man accused of striking and killing a woman while driving under the influence was sentenced today to 7 years and 8 months in prison.

Abraham Maciel Jr. pleaded no contest last month to driving under the influence causing bodily harm and gross vehicular manslaughter. Two other charges were dropped.

On February 28th, Maciel was driving Southbound on SR-184 south of Kernita Road when he struck a female walking on the Northbound side of the road.

Maciel fled the scene but was later located and arrested.

30-year-old Gloria Yancy was transported to Kern Medical where she later died.
