One man is facing two charges after being shot at during a burglary in South Bakersfield.
Kern County Sheriff's Office Deputies said around 8:10 p.m. Thursday evening, a deputy responded to South Chester Avenue and Ming Avenue after he heard a gunshot while on patrol. He said when he arrived at the scene he saw 48-year-old Peter Marquez with a mask on his head.
According to the report, a business owner in the 1800 block of South Chester Avenue, heard someone break into his business. Then when he saw the thief inside his business, the owner shot one round. Deputies said Marquez tried to runaway but was stopped by the responding deputy.
Deputies said Marquez was arrested and is facing charges for burglary and resisting arrest. The owner of the business is not facing charges for firing the gunshot. Deputies said they found the round and there were no injuries.
