A man was shot and laying in a roadway just before 1 p.m. Wednesday in east Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was shot several times and was on Isabel Road near Lake Street.
The victim was walking with two other people in the area when five men got out of a light colored SUV and approached them.
The two groups spoke then one of the five men pulled out a gun. The other group started to run away and several shots were fired.
The victim was shot several times while running away and was transported to Kern Medical Center. He is expected to survive.
