A man is expected to recover after being shot in the head early Sunday morning.

At about 12:15 a.m., Bakersfield police officers were flagged down near California Avenue and L Street by two subjects in a vehicle.

Officers said that they saw several bullet strikes to the vehicle and contacted the passenger, an adult male, who was suffering from a minor gunshot wound to his head.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. 

The investigation led officers to the east alley of the 300 block of Chester Avenue where they located evidence of a shooting. 

The investigation is ongoing and there is no suspect information at this time.
