WASCO, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office have identified 27-year-old Ricardo Villegas as the man shot and killed in Wasco on Jan. 3.

On Friday, Jan. 3, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at 12th and Broadway streets in Wasco at around 5 p.m. When they arrived they found Villegas suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower leg, as well as "additional trauma to his body."

Villegas was transported to Kern Medical by helicopter. He died from his injuries on Monday.

Authorities have no suspects in the case and the investigation continues.
