BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — CHP is searching for a matte black 1996 or 1997 Honda Civic after they say a man was shot while driving on SR-99 just south of SR-223.
According to CHP, on Tuesday, February 11 around 11:20 p.m., a man and his right front passenger were driving northbound on SR-99 just south of SR-223 in the #1 lane. CHP says the victim observed a matte black Honda Civic approaching at a high rate of speed from behind. CHP says the victim moved into the #2 lane to allow the Honda Civic to pass the victim's car within the #1 lane. CHP says as the Honda pulled up next to the victim's car, the right front passenger of the Honda Civic pointed a handgun out of the passenger window and fired one round. CHP says the victim felt an impact in the middle of his back and sped off.
The victim was able to drive himself to Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
CHP is searching for a matte black 1996 or 1997 Honda Civic. CHP says the suspect is described as a man with light complexion. CHP says he was wearing a black beanie hat, dark clothing, and had an unknown type of handgun.
