A man was struck and killed by a car in Southwest Bakersfield. 

The Bakersfield Police Department says it happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of California Avenue. 

BPD says the man was crossing the roadway outside the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. He died at the scene. 

BPD says the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No alcohol, drugs or speed appear to be factors in the collision.
