A man has been hospitalized after he suffered major injuries in a car crash in Shafter.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old Juan Carlos Perez was driving in the area of Wasco Avenue and West Lerdo Highway when he was turning onto a street and lost control of his car.

The CHP says the car rolled and the engine was ejected from the car. 

CHP said on Saturday said Perez sustained major injuries and was air lifted to Kern Medical.

The crash remains under investigation.

At this time, It is not known if alcohol, drugs or distractions played a factor in the crash.
