BAKERSFIELD, Calif — One man was taken to the hospital after getting hit by a freightliner this morning.
According to the California highway patrol a man wearing dark clothing was walking in traffic lanes on the 99 north of Ponds Road.
A driver was coming from behind when he noticed the man and tried to brake and swerve out of the way.
The man was hit by the right side of the vehicle and was thrown onto the right shoulder with major injuries.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be causes in the crash
