Bakersfield Police officials have arrested the man who was connected to the SWAT callout on February 19th.
BPD officials said on Wednesday, at around 12:25 a.m. a resident in the 3000 block of Pecangrove Dr. called police reporting there was a subject on his roof.
BPD says the person making the call recognized the subject as 25-year-old Ruben Maldonado who was the focus of a S.W.A.T. callout last Friday.
When officers arrived, they contacted Maldonado at his residence and saw that he was exhibiting symptoms of drug influence.
When officers tried to take him into custody, Maldonado became combative and threatened to kill officers.
Maldonado struck an officer and violently resisted.
An appropriate amount of force was used to arrest him and he was transported to Kern Medical Center for medical treatment.
Once there, a medical condition unrelated to the use of force was discovered and he was admitted. A law enforcement hold was placed on him pending medical clearance.
At about 3:00 p.m. Maldonado walked away from KMC but was located a short distance away by patrol officers.
He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Kern County Jail for charges of being under the influence of narcotics, battery on a police officer, and felony resisting arrest.
Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
