Delano Police arrested a man and two juveniles after an alleged carjacking earlier this week.

Officials said on October 1, 2017 officers were dispatched to Lupine Ave and Alila Avenue for a reported carjacking.

Two victims within the victim vehicle noticed an older model Toyota Corolla pass approximately two times.

After about five minutes, two Hispanic subjects approached the victim vehicle with one of the suspect’s possessing a firearm.

The armed suspect pointed a handgun at the victims and ordered them out of the vehicle and to lay on the ground.

One of the suspects rummaged through the victims pockets in search of money and valuables before leaving.

The suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and drove off, being followed by the Toyota Corolla.

An alert was sent out to law enforcement agencies and the Toyota vehicle was located in Poplar, Calif. by CHP.

The suspects led CHP officers on a pursuit, but were detained after the car was disabled using spike strips.

A firearm was located inside the suspect’s car.

Delano officers responded to the town of Poplar and arrested Edwin Ibarra, 20, of Delano, for carjacking and several other felonies, including gang and firearms charges.

Two male juveniles were also arrested with Ibarra and charged with various felonies.

Ibarra was booked into the Kern County Jail and is being held on $300,000 bail.

The juveniles were transported to Juvenile Hall.
