Man walking inside of unmarked crosswalk hit by car in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car wile walking inside of an unmarked crosswalk in South Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the intersection of South Chester Avenue and La France Drive regarding a hit and run crash.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man was crossing the roadway inside of an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

The man sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

BPD says the driver of the car fled the scene and remains at large. Investigators believe the car involved is an unknown color, 2016 to 2017 Honda Civic.
