Man walking outside of crosswalk hit by pickup, sustains major injuries

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man sustained major injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck while walking outside of a crosswalk in Southwest Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, around 9:41 p.m. on Friday, June 14, officers responded to the 10 block of New Stine Road for a crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers learned that a man was crossing westbound on New Stine Road outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a blue GMC pickup truck that was driving northbound on New Stine Road.

The man sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

BPD says alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
