Police are searching for a man accused of trying to kidnap a girl walking to school.
At about 6:45 a.m. Monday, Bakersfield Police Department officers responded to a suspicious circumstances report in the 3000 block of Coventry Drive.
A juvenile female reported as she was walking to school she was approached by a subject in a vehicle who asked if she needed a ride.
The juvenile declined the offer and ran back to her apartment complex. She reported the subject turned the vehicle around and pursued her.
She entered the complex and the subject attempted to follow her. The juvenile was unhurt and reported the matter to her mother.
The suspect is described as a:
- Black male adult, 5’10”, slim build, black hooded sweat shirt w/ hood up over head,
- black sweat pants and shoes, and a black full face ski mask / only eyes visible.
The vehicle is described as a black or dark colored mini-van, stock appearance, with tinted windows.
