BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Thursday, President Trump touted his criminal form initiatives and his signing of the First Step Act last December. The bipartisan bill included various measure aimed are reducing federal incarceration rates.

The President invited serveral criminal justice advocates and organizations including Marley's Mutt and Zach Skow's Pawsitive Change Program. For years, the program has been entering California Prison and giving hundreds of inmates the chance to learn about rehabilitating man's best friend while working on themselves.

Zach Skow says the "First Step Act" is a step in the right direction for change but that others can be taken in giving inmates a second chance.

"One, we can talk about it on social media, two we can consider hiring ex-convicts and three we can allow ourselves to shift mentally about how we view people who have served time in prison," said Skow.
