BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County fire units battled a house fire that fully engulfed a McFarland home early Saturday morning.

According to a KCFD press release, units responded to 273 San Pedro street and discovered a house fully engulfed in flames at about 2:50 a.m.

Units on scene determined the surrounding homes were in danger due to embers dispersing to both sides of the property.

Units were able to save the surrounding homes, but noted that the structure on fire was a total loss, according to the release.

The cause of the fire was accidental and believed to have resulted from electrical issues.
