The McFarland Police Department arrested a man and seized a gun and narcotics Saturday night.

According to MPD, around 10:15 p.m. an officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of East Perkins Avenue and San Juan Street.

The officer contacted the driver, later identified as Aurelio Gonzalez, 31, from McFarland.

The officer believed Gonzalez was under the influence of alcohol.

While conducting their investigation, Gonzalez told officers he had a firearm in the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle Gonzalez was driving and located a firearm.

Officers also found 13.6 grams of suspected Methamphetamine where the firearm was located.

More than $1,000 cash was found and seized as evidence related to the sales of narcotics.

Gonzalez was later transported to the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility and booked on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of narcotics, and various firearm violations.
